Mike Stefanik

Mike Stefanik won nine NASCAR championships across the Modified and Whelen Modified Tour, making him the most decorated champion in any NASCAR-sanctioned touring series. The Coventry, Rhode Island native dominated Modified racing on the bullrings of New England with a combination of raw talent, mechanical expertise, and a competitive intensity that made him the undisputed king of the division. Stefanik's championship haul is staggering -- seven Modified Tour titles and two Whelen All-American Series championships compiled across a career that spanned decades of short-track excellence. He won more than 70 career races on the Modified circuit, taming the toughest short tracks in the Northeast with a driving skill that his peers regarded as peerless. His success was built on an old-school foundation of doing everything himself -- preparing his own cars, making his own setup decisions, and driving with a precision that came from an intimate understanding of every bolt and bearing in his race car. Stefanik was tragically killed in a plane crash in 2019, and his posthumous Hall of Fame induction in 2021 recognized not only his extraordinary record but the values he represented: hard work, self-reliance, and an unwavering dedication to the craft of short-track racing.
