The NASCAR O'Reilly Auto Parts Series is the second-highest level of NASCAR competition, serving as the primary developmental series for drivers aiming to reach the Cup Series. Formerly known as the Xfinity Series (2015-2025), Busch Series (1984-2007), and Nationwide Series (2008-2014), the series adopted the O'Reilly Auto Parts name for the 2026 season. Many of today's top Cup drivers — including Chase Elliott, Kyle Larson, and Christopher Bell — established themselves with dominant Xfinity runs before moving up.

The 2026 season features 33 races across ovals, short tracks, road courses, and two street circuits — including the new San Diego race on Father's Day weekend. The O'Reilly Auto Parts Series often races on the same weekends as the Cup Series, typically on Saturdays, giving fans a full weekend of competition. The championship format mirrors the Cup Series with the Chase, and the season finale is at Homestead-Miami Speedway on November 7. All races air exclusively on The CW, a major broadcast change from previous years on Fox and NBC.

Betting Context

The O'Reilly Auto Parts Series offers sharper betting value than the Cup Series for one key reason: Cup drivers sometimes drop down to compete in O'Reilly races, and when they do, they dominate. Knowing which Cup regulars are entered in any given race is the single biggest edge in this series. When no Cup veterans are in the field, the races are wide open and longshot picks hit far more frequently. Entry lists are usually published by Tuesday of race week — that's when smart bettors start their research. Sportsbook coverage is thinner than Cup, so lines are softer and mispriced more often.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the NASCAR O'Reilly Auto Parts Series?
The NASCAR O'Reilly Auto Parts Series is NASCAR's second-tier national series, one step below the Cup Series. It was formerly known as the Xfinity Series (2015-2025). O'Reilly Auto Parts became the title sponsor starting in the 2026 season. The series serves as the top developmental division, where drivers compete for a championship while preparing for a move to the Cup Series.
Can Cup Series drivers race in the O'Reilly Auto Parts Series?
Yes, Cup Series drivers are allowed to enter O'Reilly Auto Parts Series races, though NASCAR limits the number of races Cup regulars can run. When Cup drivers enter — known historically as "Busch-whacking" — they typically perform well due to superior experience. Checking the entry list each week is critical for bettors, as the presence of Cup drivers significantly impacts the competitive field.
What channel is the O'Reilly Auto Parts Series on?
All 2026 NASCAR O'Reilly Auto Parts Series races air exclusively on The CW. Practice and qualifying sessions are streamed free on The CW App. This is a new broadcast arrangement for the series.
How many races are in the O'Reilly Auto Parts Series?
The 2026 O'Reilly Auto Parts Series season features 33 races. The regular season consists of 24 races, followed by a 9-race Chase to determine the champion. The season runs from February at Daytona through the championship race at Homestead-Miami Speedway in November.
