Jack Ingram
About Jack Ingram
Jack Ingram is one of the greatest short-track racers in NASCAR history, a Late Model Sportsman legend whose dominance in what is now the Xfinity Series earned him the nickname the Iron Man. The Asheville, North Carolina native won three Sportsman Series championships and compiled a resume on the short tracks of the Southeast that few have matched before or since. Ingram's driving style was perfectly suited to the close-quarters combat of short-track racing, where patience, car control, and the ability to race door-to-door without making mistakes separate winners from the rest of the field. He mastered these skills at tracks like Hickory, Myrtle Beach, and South Boston, becoming the standard against which all other short-track competitors were measured. His career was built on grit, mechanical knowledge, and an understanding of race cars that came from turning wrenches as much as turning laps. Ingram represented the owner-driver tradition in its purest form, a racer who prepared his own equipment and then drove it to victory. Inducted into the NASCAR Hall of Fame in 2019, Jack Ingram's legacy reminds fans that championship-caliber talent exists at every level of the sport, and that the short tracks where NASCAR was born continue to produce competitors of extraordinary skill and determination.
