Ryan Ellis kept a NASCAR career alive for more than a decade on hustle alone, and the results finally started paying him back. The Ashburn, Virginia native cracked the top 10 for the first time with an eighth at Charlotte in 2025, then opened 2026 with a career-best sixth at Daytona, fourteen years after his first national start. That is the whole career in one sentence: persistence rewarded. Ellis has made 164 starts across the O'Reilly Auto Parts Series and the Craftsman Truck Series, with a smattering of Cup appearances, almost all of it for small teams where the driver doubles as sponsorship salesman, marketer, and morale officer. He has run closest to the front where underdogs always do, with near-miss 11th-place finishes at Talladega and Daytona sprinkled through the years before the breakthrough came. Racing rarely gives its grinders a storybook moment. Daytona 2026 gave Ellis his, and nobody in the garage begrudged him a second of it.
