How It Works

These rankings aggregate performance across all 28 tracks on the 2026 Cup Series schedule. Frequently Asked Questions

How are NASCAR power rankings calculated?
Our power rankings aggregate track-specific performance scores across all 28 tracks on the 2026 Cup Series schedule. Each driver receives a power score at each track based on weighted finishing positions, wins, poles, laps led, and stage wins. The overall ranking is the average of all track-specific scores where a driver appears in the top 20.
How often do NASCAR power rankings update?
Power rankings update automatically after each race result is ingested. The algorithm recalculates based on the latest available data with recency weighting that prioritizes recent seasons.
What data sources are used for power rankings?
Rankings use official NASCAR race results dating back 15 seasons. The algorithm applies recency weights (most recent seasons count 3x, while older seasons fade to 0.1x) and factors in finishing position, wins, poles, laps led, and stage performance.
Why are power rankings different from other NASCAR rankings?
Unlike editorial power rankings that rely on opinions, our rankings are 100% algorithmic. They aggregate performance across every track on the schedule, giving a comprehensive view of which drivers perform best across all venue types.
