About Johnny Sauter
Johnny Sauter stands among the greatest Truck Series drivers ever to climb aboard one: 24 wins, 116 top-five finishes, and 186 top-10s across 326 starts, plus the 2016 championship that crowned a career of remarkable consistency. Born into a Wisconsin racing family in Necedah, Sauter brought old-school short-track toughness to every division he touched. He won three times in the second-tier series in the early 2000s, at Chicagoland, Richmond, and Milwaukee, and made 85 Cup Series starts with a best finish of fifth. But the trucks were home. Sauter won everywhere they raced: three times in the season opener at Daytona (2013, 2016, and 2018), repeatedly at Martinsville and Texas, and through a six-win 2018 season that came 15 years after his first Truck Series start. Driving for GMS Racing and ThorSport Racing across his prime, Sauter combined longevity, ferocity, and week-to-week reliability in a way few drivers in the division's history can match, and its record book reflects it.
