The Milwaukee Mile
West Allis, WI, USA
Track History
The Milwaukee Mile at Wisconsin State Fair Park in West Allis is one of the oldest speedways in America, a flat one-mile oval where automobile racing dates back to the first years of the twentieth century. Long celebrated as an IndyCar and USAC stronghold, the Mile has also carved out a substantial NASCAR history: 36 national series races have been run there between 1984 and 2024. The Xfinity Series arrived first, with Sam Ard winning the 1984 race on the way to his championship season, and the series made Milwaukee a regular summer stop through 2009. The Truck Series added its own chapter from 1995 through 2009, then brought national NASCAR racing back to the Mile in 2023 after a long absence, with Grant Enfinger winning the return and Layne Riggs taking the 2024 race. The track itself is a purist's test: flat, wide, and utterly honest, a place where momentum must be preserved through long, sweeping corners and where chassis setup and throttle discipline matter more than horsepower. Set inside the state fairgrounds, the Mile carries a community atmosphere that purpose-built superspeedways cannot replicate, more than a century of racing layered into a single mile of asphalt.

Race Dynamics
Short tracks feature close-quarters racing with higher caution rates. Aggressive drivers and bump-and-run tactics thrive here. Strong restarts and late-race speed are essential. Track-specific history matters more here than at any other track type.
