Track History

New Hampshire Motor Speedway is a 1.058-mile flat oval in Loudon, New Hampshire that has been the Northeast's premier Cup Series venue since 1993. The Magic Mile, as it is known, sits in the foothills of the White Mountains and brings NASCAR to a region that had been starved for Cup racing for decades. The flat layout with just 12 degrees of banking in the turns creates a racing style that demands precision — there is no banking to carry speed through the corners, so every tenth of a second must be found through chassis setup, tire management, and driving technique. New Hampshire produces racing that can appear processional from the outside but rewards close attention, as the battles within the field are fought on razor-thin margins and the importance of track position cannot be overstated. The New England fan base brings an intensity and loyalty that reflects decades of anticipation for a Cup race of their own.
