Track History

Nashville Superspeedway spent over a decade in dormancy before NASCAR brought the Cup Series to its 1.33-mile concrete oval in 2021, and the resurrection was worth the wait. Built in 2001 and hosting lower-tier series through 2011, this track in Lebanon, Tennessee sat silent until the sport recognized what it had been missing — a unique intermediate-length concrete surface that produces racing unlike any other mile-and-a-third on the schedule. The concrete creates higher grip levels than asphalt, which means more speed through the corners and greater mechanical stress on every component over a 300-lap race. Nashville bridges the gap between a true short track and a standard intermediate, creating a hybrid racing experience where track position matters but passing is possible for cars with superior long-run speed. Music City has embraced the Cup Series with the fervor you would expect from a town that knows how to host a show, and the atmosphere around the track on race weekend reflects Nashville's unique energy — equal parts Southern hospitality and genuine passion for competition.
